Charcoal and IroriConcept

Gion Manma stands in a lane off Hanamikoji in Gion, Kyoto. The owner, a native of Kagawa, trained for years at Takada Hassho, a Japanese restaurant in Gifu, before opening this restaurant in 2018.

Using charcoal, wara-yaki straw-grilling and an irori hearth, the kitchen grills seasonal fish, vegetables and selected game. The name "Manma" reflects the owner's wish to serve simple, honest food. Gion Manma is featured in the Michelin Guide.
